• Learn about fire safety and how to educate the public about fire safety

• Learn firefighting skills, such as fire attack and hose line management

This designation places the program within Michigan’s formal fire-service training system administered through the Bureau of Fire Services, Firefighter Training Division, and guided by the Michigan Firefighters Training Council. RTC status strengthens GCI’s ability to provide standardized, state-recognized pre-service firefighter education while supporting a direct pathway from high school career and technical education into the professional fire service. Strategically, it also gives GCI a framework to expand regional partnerships, strengthen career and college pathways, pursue approved specialty training, develop training technology, and serve as a long-term workforce-development asset for the fire service.
