The Grow With Us, Stay With Us opportunity allows students in Genesee Career Institute’s (GCI) Early Childhood Education program to work with preschool children in a supervised childcare facility, while also working toward their Child Development Associate Certificate (CDA). Benefits of the program include hands-on training, mentoring and support, and flexible schedules. Those in their second year of the GCI program may qualify for paid work-based learning positions.
After completion of the two-year program and attainment of a CDA, students may qualify for the following positions in Genesee County childcare and preschool facilities: Associate Teacher, Primary Teacher, or SKIP Home Visitor.
If serving in one of those positions, additional opportunities for scholarships, mentoring, and training are available to assist participants working toward their associate or bachelor's degrees in early childhood education.
